High Tech at BCHS Saves Athletes From Injury

While a robot that paints sports field lines may not seem like a safety warrior, it has become one. Bradshaw Christian High School is the only school in the Elk Grove area that has remained with natural grass on all its sports fields. Current science points to data that playing on natural grass rather than turf, prevents injury to athletes when there is forcible contact with the field. In an article from the Elk Grove Citizen, football coach and assistant athletic director, Virgil Yuhre, made this comment about our high tech robot: “Being able to set up and paint a natural grass field in a reasonable amount of time probably saves us from going to turf,” Yuhre said. “And in that same breath, it probably saves us from injuries that come with playing on turf. So, I like to think this technology is saving our athletes from getting injured.” He continued to explain why the robot helps us keep our natural grass fields: “Now when we need to paint, we fire up the robot and go do it,” Yuhre said. “There’s no scheduling with an outside company; no schedule conflicts.” “The flexibility we have now is so much better than relying on someone else…” Read the full article in the Elk Grove Citizen.

We are thankful for such technology, helping us keep our beautiful sports fields safer for our athletes!
