    For Jan Martin, teaching at Bradshaw Christian School is more than a job—it’s a calling deeply rooted in love and guided by faith. Her journey began in 2003, when her oldest granddaughter, Kady, started preschool at Bradshaw. Wanting to be close to her during those precious early years, Jan left her job in the medical field and joined the school staff as an aide. 

    But being at Bradshaw lit a deeper passion in her heart. Inspired by Kady, and also her second grandchild, Emma, and moved by the joy of working with children, Jan returned to school herself—this time to earn her teaching credentials. Not long after, she stepped into the preschool classroom, where her warmth, dedication, and love for Jesus blessed every child she encountered. 

    In 2010, Jan stepped away to care for her husband, a Vietnam veteran, dedicating herself to his needs during a tender and important season. Though no longer on staff, she remained connected to Bradshaw through her family, watching as her granddaughters Katie and Emma grew up, graduated from BCS, and continued to cherish the school that had helped shape them. 

    Then in 2023, she returned to the preschool because her great-grandson, Stetson (Kady’s son), started preschool in the twos class. With joy and purpose, Jan rejoined the preschool staff, once again pouring into young lives with grace and love. 

    “I love it here,” Jan shares. “Bradshaw is my family.” That simple truth speaks volumes. Her story is one of faithfulness, generational love, and a heart that continues to say “yes” to God’s calling.  

    Preschool Director, Hannah Battiste, adds that “Jan is a true blessing to our program. She deeply cares for not only the children but also the teachers on our campus. She treats all as her own family. Her generosity is an evident outpouring of God’s love, from buying supplies for the classroom to making her famous “tiramisu” for the staff. She is always taking the opportunity to bless someone. Our students and their families adore her and we’re so grateful to have her on our team! 

    With five children, fifteen grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren, Jan’s life is rich with blessings, and Bradshaw Christian School is honored to be part of that legacy.
