Siller Land & Longhorns Gifts Bull Calves to Bradshaw Christian School’s FFA Program

The Texas Longhorn is a distinctive breed of beef cattle known for its impressive, long horns, which can extend more than 8 feet from tip to tip. This remarkable breed traces its origins back to cattle brought by Spanish conquistadors to the Americas, starting as early as the Second Voyage of Christopher Columbus around 1493 and continuing through 1512. These cattle were primarily introduced from the Iberian Peninsula and have evolved into the strong, resilient animals that we recognize today as Texas Longhorns.

In an exciting show of support for agriculture education, Siller Land & Longhorns, located in the picturesque Sierra Foothills of Penn Valley, California, gifted two bull calves to Bradshaw Christian School’s FFA (Future Farmers of America) Program earlier this year. The donation is a meaningful contribution to the school’s educational programs, providing students with the opportunity to care for and learn about this unique breed of cattle.

The two bull calves, born in 2023, each have impressive pedigrees. Bull calf 75 was born on April 8, 2023. His sire is Patriot, whose horn length spans an impressive 94 inches, and his dam is Lezawe Girl, also with a horn length of 94 inches. Bull calf 73, born a little earlier on March 2, 2023, is the offspring of Texaco, whose horns reach 90 inches, and Exploded, whose horn length is 82 inches. These impressive horn lengths provide a glimpse into the potential future of these calves as they grow into strong, majestic Longhorns.

Siller Land & Longhorns is dedicated to preserving and promoting the legacy of the Texas Longhorn breed, and their generous gift is helping to foster a deeper connection with this iconic American cattle breed at Bradshaw Christian School.
