Fifth Grade Students Attend Mission Springs Outdoor Education

Our 5th grade students had the opportunity to attend a 4-day outdoor education camp at Mission Springs in Scotts Valley. Not only did the students get to experience God’s creation by visiting various ecosystems such as the forest and the ocean, but the Naturalists helped to bring the classroom to life by supporting what our wonderful 5th grade teachers have already taught about marine life. Students learned about the plants of the forest, how the process of composting works, and some even joined the “Banana Slug Club” by putting a banana slug on their face. At the beach, students searched for mole crabs in the sand and dissected a squid at the Santa Cruz Wharf. They even got to visit with the Sea Lions! Best of all, our 5th grade students worshiped together and enjoyed fellowship with one another. Thank you to our amazing parent chaperones and our incredible 5th grade teachers! We can’t wait to go to Mission Springs again next year!
