Welcome to Bradshaw Christian School. We believe in fostering a positive relationship with the media and the community in order to build a greater understanding of our mission to dedicate ourselves to Christ in the pursuit of athletic excellence while we grow in knowledge and wisdom through God’s abundant grace. We have prepared media guidelines designed to facilitate the needs of the working media as well as support and safeguard our students and employees. We ask you to follow these steps to ensure that we can provide the most beneficial information to you.
Media Guidelines for Student Athletes / BCS Sports Program
Our first priority is to support media representatives that reach the communities served by BCS. We ask that you contact our Athletic Department at (916) 688-0521, Ext. 145 in order to receive proper media credentials for interviews with student athletes or access to sporting events.
We welcome news organizations outside our traditional service area but request that representatives are credentialed as well. BCS recognizes media that subscribe to journalistic standards and ethics. Individuals hosting blogs, chat rooms or other nontraditional electronic sites will be reviewed on a case by case basis. Please show your official press pass, including your employee identification card to school officials at the ticket gate and field gate to gain access as a recognized member of the media. Non-credentialed and non-recognized media personnel will not be allowed access to the field, our coaches or students. Credentials must be worn and visible at all times. All credentials are non-transferable. All photographers (print, electronic and video) must be credentialed to access the sidelines.
All requests for interviews with players, coaches, or school officials should be directed to the athletic director, Mike Ruble. All requests for interviews of coaches or student athletes must be made before or after a game to the above mentioned school official. The school reserves the right to limit requests for interviews. Sideline behavior must be respectful to the game, the coaches, and student athletes. All posted school rules must be obeyed. If your behavior is deemed to be disrespectful, school officials will politely ask you to leave the field.
We ask that your coverage of our student athletes be in the spirit of youth sports: positive, encouraging to the boys and girls that are covered, and focused on team rather than individual success. We appreciate your support in creating a positive environment for kids.
Only the first 30 minutes of practice are open. Media wishing to attend practice should contact the Athletic Department in advance. TV B-roll and still photographers will be allowed to shoot warm-ups, stretching drills and the first two periods of practice. Team meetings before, during and after practice are private.
