The Science of Life Truly Lives!!
By Mrs. Davis, HS Science Teacher
Bradshaw Christian High School hosted its first blood drive May 18, 2012! We had a total of 40 individuals, including students and teachers, give blood. This equates to 160 lives saved! Students were so excited to make a difference in someone else’s life. The anatomy and physiology class took a field trip to Bloodsource in February of this year. I challenged the students to figure out how to host BCHS’s first blood drive. Thanks to Rebekah Zachariou for hitting the ground running! She headed up the organization, meetings and final procedures to make it happen. We also had several students help with the smooth transitions the day of the blood drive.
Be on the look out next year for a couple blood drives. Students want to have a blood drive for the parents of BCS in early fall and another one in the spring for the students. I am impressed at the turn out and excitement with this event.
Biology classes finished their final dissection of the year with the fetal pig. I appreciate how students are able to see the way God has uniquely made every thing.
Pre-AP Biology students are learning how to back up their faith in creation with scientific evidence. Exciting topics are being covered and students will be well prepared to use this scientific evidence to back up their faith in God’s amazing creation!
