Summer Reading

All middle school students coming in to grades 7 and 8, are required to read a book over the summer and work on one or more projects related to the book. All high school students enrolled in honors, pre AP and AP English classes are require to read two books over the summer. It is optional for all other high school English classes.  Many of the assignments are substantial, so it is advised that students stay on top of their reading throughout the summer. Books are listed below by grade and project instructions are included in PDF format.

Note: All grade levels listed are incoming grades. Books are not given out by BCS. They will need to be either purchased or borrowed. Books will be needed for the first few weeks of school for class assignments and discussion. ISBN numbers are given for the edition that will be used in class.  It is essential that these editions of the books are used, so that page references are consistent.
